DMDirc

IRC is a communication protocol which was created a while ago, but it's still extremely popular, being used by a lot of people. The reasons for this are simple. IRC is simple to use, allows you to exchange instant messages and even files and offers a very good overall speed.

But in order to be able to connect to an IRC channel, you will first need to install an IRC client. Even though there are numerous clients on the market, few of them are as good as DMDirc. This Windows IRC client offers just the right features for the average users, being very simple to use.

After installing the application, the user will need to enter the address of the IRC server, together with his nickname and real name. Optionally, the port for the IRC server should be entered. This information is all that's required in order to connect to an IRC server. After connecting, one should enter the name of the channel on which he would like to exchange instant messages or files. DMDirc allows connecting to several channels at the same time, even on slower computers, as the application doesn't take up too many system resources.

The left side of the interface allows simple navigation between several channels. For being able to exchange messages, the user will only need to write them in the lower part of the interface. By accessing the options section of DMDirc, he will be able to customize the connection, but also change some settings regarding the program's interface and even change the theme of the interface.

In case several people use the application, each of them can have his own profile and own settings.
